World Tuberculosis Day is this Sunday, March 24th.
The day marks the discovery of the TB bacteria by Dr. Robert Koch in 1882, and The Perth District Health Unit is reminding residents that TB does still exist.
Each year there are about 1,600 new TB cases in Canada.
Although Perth County does not have a high incidence of active TB disease, there are cases of latent TB diagnosed every year.
If you've had a cough that's lasted more than 3 weeks with night sweats and weight loss, you may need a TB test.
TB tests are available through your family doctor or the Perth District Health Unit.
